Linda McCartney is one of the most well-known vegan figures and her food range was one of the most successful. The brand was created in 1991 and is one of the most readily available vegan and vegetarian brands around. Linda McCartney foods offer all sorts of vegan alternatives for foods and I would need an entire blog post all of its own to list them all! Her foods are definitely one of the best out there, so while they are a bit more expensive they are worth every penny.
The vegetarian country pies are one of my all time favourites and is one of the most hearty meals out there. They come in packs of 2 for around £2-£3 depending on where you go or whether they are on sale. So they are somewhat more expensive but good Lordy they are so good!
This pie is upside down, just because that was how it fell out of the tin once it was finished cooking…
These pies are filled with rehydrated textured soya protein in a rich onion and beef-style gravy and taste exactly how I remember steak and onion pies tasting. They do not look nor have the same texture of beef, so are great for those of you who want the taste without the texture of meat. It is also really filling so while they do look rather small they are definitely enough for a heart meal.
The only downside to these things are that they are crazy popular. Which I suppose is also a good thing. But where I live they are almost always sold out. This week was the first time I have seen them back in stock and there were only four boxes left! So that should tell you how good these are by how often they will be sold out.
Overall: 9/10. If you see these near you definitely pick them up! And if you don’t like them, I will happily take them off your hands….
